Country Manager, StreetDeal Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2011 – Present StreetDeal.my is a daily deal website that advertises and sells local merchants offers at 50% to 90% discount. Offers range from Restaurants to Spas, Leisure and other local merchants. Following its launch in October 2010 in Singapore, StreetDeal.sg has seen a rapid growth and began its international expansion in South East Asia by expanding to Malaysia in May 2011.
As the Country Manager for Malaysia, Aaron was fully responsible for all aspects of the expansion in Malaysia. In the initial stage, daily tasks ranged from finding local merchants, setting up an office, hiring a team, supporting customers and other tasks linked with running the business. StreetDeal has grown to a team of 25 people and the site performs over 1000 transactions per day for customers all over Malaysia. Aaron’s tasks now involve strategy and business development.
In 2013, StreetDeal launched its StreetDeal Insiders program. This is a special section on the site whereby Celebrities select, curate and recommend deals to their fans. StreetDeal Malaysia is the first e-commerce site in South East Asia to utilize Social Commerce as a way to engage customers. StreetDeal Insiders contributed to over RM200,000 in revenue to StreetDeal in the first 4 weeks of its launch and is heralded as a success for StreetDeal. Today, StreetDeal works with 23 local actors, actresses, TV hosts, models, singers and performers.
With the success of StreetDeal Insiders, StreetDeal Malaysia believed it was time to give back to the community by launching StreetDeal Cares. StreetDeal Cares leverages StreetDeal Malaysia’s celebrity platform to reach out to local homes and causes. In total 17 Celebrities participated to raise funds for 17 causes. At this time over 3000 Malaysians have participated in this campaign.
Director, Jubilant Models Sdn Bhd Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2010 – Present
Jubilant Models Sdn Bhd is the sole license holder for the brand Van Laack in Malaysia. Aaron
was instrumental in acquiring this license and opening Van Laack’s first store in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The company has since opened two more stores in Bangsar Shopping Center and Great Eastern Mall and operates pop up shops in Isetan stores in Malaysia.
Aaron relinquished responsibility of daily operations at Jubilant Models to work on StreetDeal Malaysia in May 2011.
Chief Operating Officer, Sportzone Sdn Bhd Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2007 – 2009 Sportzone Sdn Bhd was a sporting good wholesaler. During his tenure the company acquired the license to distribute and sell Lotto products in Malaysia. Aaron’s tasks involved setting up
Sportzone also launched its own house brand of the same name which was used by the Kelantan Football Association in 2008 and 2009.
Sponsorship Manager, Ironman Malaysia Triathlon Langkawi, Malaysia 2007 – 2010 During his time with Sportzone, Aaron also participated in the Organizing Committee for the Ironman Malaysia Triathlon. His role was to sign sponsors to participate in the Ironman Malaysia Triathlon in cash or in kind. Aaron continued contribute to the race committee until the Triathlon’s final race in 2010.
Distributor / Presidential Club Member Penang, Johor, Kuala Lumpur 2003 – 2006 Omegatrend was a network marketing company that operated in Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. As a distributor in the business Aaron’s role was to expand his sales network and coach leaders to duplicate the business model. After 2 1/2 years of building the business Aaron achieved the Presidential Club. He was the youngest person to achieve this at the time at the age of 24. Aaron’s time at the company taught him valuable lessons in sales, people management and personal development that he leans on till this day.
